Illustrated by rare and stunning photographs from cinema, documentary and real life, Killing for Culture is a necessary book which examines and questions the human obsession with images of violence, dismemberment and death, and the way our society is coping with an increased profusion of these disturbing yet compelling images from all quarters.
* 'The definitive guide to the history of snuff.' - Empire
* 'Utterly unputdownable.' - Melody Maker
* 'A definitive study…thoroughly examining both traditions (mondo and snuff) and picking apart the myths surrounding the latter.' - Sight and Sound
* 'Well-researched and highly readable, Killing for Culture is a must-have.' - Film Threat
* 'A captivating read…Creation’s most accomplished film publication so far. This study on the way death has been treated on film is cleverly structured, well researched and lucidly written. It comprehensively covers films made as fiction (e.g. Peeping Tom, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer), films purporting to be real (e.g. Faces of Death series), and material that is all too real, such as car-crashes, autopsy films and news footage.' - Shivers

I think so. You can find it at amazon.com along with tons of other book from there series which is called the creation cinema collection. They have a book on cannibal films, serial killer films, hammer films, and even porn films. They have a ton of books in the series. I got mine through a trade with HNT and Killing For Culture is definitely a must read for horror fans in general.

The pic on teh cover is indeed from a Mondo film. If you check the mondo chapter, Inf3ct, you will see that same severed head in a pic in the chapter. In any case, I don't remember what film, but it is supposedly real and not an effect. Anyway, this is a terrific book and I recommend it highly. You might want to steer clear of the other Creation Cinema books, though. I also read Meat is Murder and it sucked

I don't remember seeing it though. I guess I was so interested it reading it I missed the pic. lol. I just got done with the Babylon chapter on death films and some of that stuff was disturbing about those underground films and that band SPK who named themselves after those terrorists in Germany and stuff. Oh and General. I have not seen Mondo Cane. Basically its a shockumentary but contains no real death sequences. I have the Shockumentary Vol. 1 box set coming in the mail from Blue Underground. Got it for $11.00 and it comes with Mondo Cane, Mondo Cane 2, and Women Of The World.

They are also releasing it again this winter. So you might just want to wait for the updated edition.
