This movie has the neck biting zombie, my favourite of all time!
I love the shambling nature of the zombies, and how the film has a cool musical score (as do all of Fulci's films).
I got this gem off of EBAY.

I thought this was an above average zombie movie and I can see why it's considered a "classic" zombie flick. The zombies were great, the atmosphere was great, and the story was pretty good. I do think it's a bit overated though. The splinter scene, while ambitious, has some pretty bad effects in it. But the zombie fighting the shark is amazingly awesome. Overall it's a good movie and I do like it, that's why I own it on dvd, but I'd say it sometimes gets a little more credit than it deserves.

This movie never gets more credit then it deserves because it can never get enough! Definitely one of my all time favorite zombie films and the score is great. Unlike Romero's zombies these zombies actually do look like zombies and not the guys from the blue man group. lol.

I'm glad to know that Inf3ct our resident zombie expert was able to conclusively acertain that these zombies look like the real thing, as opposed to the Romero zombies that look like they just came out of ome cheezy horror film, LMAO.
I agree with CT's assessment of the film. It is very fun, mostly becasue it is very bad

Let me rephrase that Inf3ct.
It doesn't get more credit than it deserves in general from everyday people and movie critics/guys.
BUT, it DOES, imo, get more credit than it deserves from horror/zombie fanboys.

I like the Conquistador zombies.

Yeah that was a nice touch.
I do like the movie, I just don't see it as the greatest zombie movie ever, or even in the top three really. Movie with some of the best looking zombies maybe, but there's more to a movie than that.

Yes I agree with that. Dawn Of The Dead does have alot of other qualities. I still love DOTD but I put Zombi 2 up there also with it.

It's not my favorite, but it's worth checking out for sure. Some great moments like the shark fight you mentioned. You won't be disappointed.

I haven't seen Cat in the Brain either but it sounds sweet. I haven't been dissapointed by Fulci yet either.

Sadly, rental stores rarely carry the titles I actually want to see and it is too expensive to buy them.
For example, I would love to have a copy of The Beyond, but I can only find it on amazon.com and not .ca, and it is like $45 to get.

Yeah, that sucks, man. I was thinking that it is only like 25 bucks or something and then I remembered tht you wre figuring based on the Canadian dollar. Are yoiu sure that you can't get it in Canada? If you have a problem with Amazon, yuou might want to try Barnes and Noble. They are usually more expensive than Amazon, but every once in a while they aren't

40 bucks for the Beyond? that is absurd. Is it OOP or something, becaue I get a version for less than that. It wasn't the Anchor Bay, though, and it is edited and had the 7 doors of death title. I would like to pick an unedited one up, but it ain't worth 40 bucks

Yea dude I have that cheap release from Diamond too HNT. I got mine for like $5 bucks under the title Seven Doors Of Death, but it is cut up like you said.

This is one of Fulci's best, and ranks very high on the list of best zombie movies. I like The Beyond a bit better, but it's great. The atmosphere is really fantastic, and the zombies look a better than almost any others. The music, as has been mentioned is some of the best stuff to come out of Italy, and that's really saying something!!!

Yea Fabio Frizzie really made a memorable score for this film.

Yeah. Something that makes Frizzi's music so cool is that it's so emotional. If you listen to it by itself a lot of it is actually even kinda depressing. That element really gives Fulci's Zombie movies a completely different feeling and atmosphere than anyone elses.
